He cries a lot, but I know it\u2019s because he is uncomfortable and his little tummy hurts. When my son cries, I naturally react. I often pick him up to be held upright because that seems to be the most comfortable position for him. And frankly, I hate seeing him cry. In the evenings, I love to sit in the rocking chair with my son and get those baby cuddles, which my husband thinks is why he cries, because I hold him too much.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>\u201cMy husband thinks that he needs to \u2018cry it out\u2019 to get tired enough to go to sleep. At least that\u2019s what his mother tells him, \u2018You never really cried, but when you did, I just let you cry it out.\u2019 My husband uses the excuse of \u2018crying won\u2019t hurt him\u2019 but I just don\u2019t agree. But I don\u2019t know how to explain at the moment why I don\u2019t agree. I can\u2019t find my words\u2026 I try to say \u2018That\u2019s an old way of thinking,\u2019 \u2018You can\u2019t hold a baby too much,\u2019 and \u2018Babies aren\u2019t manipulative and can\u2019t be spoiled,\u2019 he just doesn\u2019t agree. How can I explain to my husband that his boomer parents are wrong in their \u2018cry it out\u2019 advice that he wants to follow?
