After four years of being cancer-free, the disease tragically returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mardinolay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2464\" style=\"width:252px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A gifted and well-loved student at Nelson High School in Ontario, Canada, Laura passed away on January 20, 2016, at the age of 18. Despite the intense battle she fought, she succumbed to acute myeloid leukemia while waiting for a transplant.
