However, fate had other plans. In August 2020, Brittany met Matt Montgomery online. Despite their physical differences, their spirits connected deeply. Brittany admitted, “I was hesitant at first. I’ve been in relationships where guys told me they’d leave if I didn’t start dieting or lose weight. It affected my self-confidence, and at one point, I started working out to change my size.”
Despite these challenges, their love for each other remained steadfast. After Matt proposed on January 30, 2022, they eagerly began planning their future together. They are completely comfortable with each other, though they are aware of how outsiders perceive their relationship.
Addressing the comments on his Instagram posts, Matt said, “People comment and suggest that I’m not big enough or man enough for her. I notice people staring when we walk down the street…” Yet, the couple remains undeterred, confident in their love for one another.
Matt’s experiences with women of “normal” size had not been fulfilling, but with Brittany, he felt he had found his soulmate. He loves her for who she is and works hard to make her happy. Unafraid to express his affection, he recently declared, “You are worthy, deserving of infinite love every single day and more. The way I look at you and feel for you, and the way you look and feel for me, is how I know we are meant to be.”
Matt frequently captions photos of him and Brittany with the negative comments they’ve received, showcasing their love and the depth of their relationship beyond superficial appearances—a powerful rebuttal to their critics.
The couple is also working to normalize relationships between people of different sizes. Brittany expressed her wish that “mixed-weight relationships were more common and more the norm.”
Last month, the couple announced they are expecting their second child, Lakelyn, in September 2023. We wish them all the best.
In the end, true love and happiness aren’t bound by any set rules. We should all strive to embrace and love one another, no matter what.
